Add Links to Your Site’s Blog Posts to PFR Player Pages
PFR Player Name Linker / Add your Site to our Player Newsfeeds
As you may have seen, we have newsfeeds on the PFR player pages, showing the latest player news from KFFL, injury reports and links to relevant PFR blog posts. If you have a blog or website with an RSS feed you can add your site to relevant player pages as well. Our Player Linker Tool will take your blog posts as you've written them and run them through a program and add links to PFR player pages where appropriate. So while you don't have the resource to create your own player pages for your site, you can treat us as your site's statistics partner, linking LT's name to our stats or any player all the way back to Y.A. Tittle and Otto Graham.
If the links then appear in your rss feed and you let us know to look for them, we'll pull them out of your feed and then link back to you from LT's page, or Otto Graham's or whomever you link to.
If you help your users find our great content, we'll help our users find yours. And best of all it is all automated except for one click of an easy-to-install bookmarklet. Check the Player Newsfeeds page for details. This link share will also work for tables you share using the SHARE tooltip found above every stats table on the site.

Site Features: Check Out the Play Index!
Here's another reminder for everyone to check out the Pro-Football-Reference Play Index. In case you don't already know about the PI, it's a set of research tools that allow you to create customizable queries on our database, save the results, and share them with others. With the PI, you can:
- Use the Player Season Finder to search through every player's stats (since 1920) for single or combined seasons that match your criteria.
- Use the Player Game Finder to search through our game logs (since 1960) for individual games that match your criteria.
- Use the Player Touchdown Finder to search through every TD since 1940 for plays that match your criteria.
- Use the Team Game Finder to isolate specific games or seasons matching certain criteria.
- Use the Super Bowl Play Finder to search through every play in Super Bowl History (we'll be adding 2009 soon as well -- our apologies for the delay!)
- Use the PFR Draft Finder to search through every NFL and AFL draft pick.
- Use our Boxscore Search Tools to find head-to-head results, or all-time games matching a particular score.
And best of all, these features are 100% free to use!
So go ahead, give them a try, and you'll wonder how you ever got along without them.

Site Features: Two Play Index Additions
A quick note on two features Sean recently added to the Pro-Football Reference Play Index:
- Team & Opponent 2nd-half scores added to Team Game Finder - In the past, we just listed 1st-half and final point totals for games, making it impossible to answer questions like, "Which team scored the most points in a game where they were held scoreless in the second half?" But now that Sean added "Second Half Score" to the criteria, you can find the answer:

Site Features: Total Offensive TDs Added to TD Finder Criteria

To use this new feature, just look under "Touchdown Type" and select "Offensive". It will allow you to execute queries like this one for the most offensive TDs in a playoff game since 1940:

Historical NFL Training Camp Locations – Pro-Football-Reference.com
2010 NFL Training Camp Locations - Pro-Football-Reference.com / Chicago Bears Training Camp History
Every once and awhile we get an e-mail with some neat new dataset that they have put together. Earlier this fall, Andrew McKillop sent us a set of research he's been doing on training camp location. That material is now on our franchise and year pages. Included below is the source material Andrew used to research this data.
Andrew wrote an extensive article in the history of NFL Training Camps for his blog. Be sure to check it out.

Site Features: Check Out the Play Index!
This is just a quick reminder for everyone to check out the Pro-Football-Reference Play Index.

Site Features: Approximate Value Leaderboards!
In a move that's admittedly long overdue, we've added Doug's Approximate Value metric to a variety of places throughout the site:
- Leaderboards: Single-Season, Career, Career (Active), Year-by-Year, Weighted Career, Weighted Career (Active), & Yearly League
- Player Pages: Stat tables, Similar Players, leaderboard appearances, weighted career AV listing
- Franchise Pages: Team listing, Season index, franchise career register
And as always, you can search for AV leaders using the PFR Play Index's Season Finder (example).
Also, we overhauled the main AV page to make it more user-friendly, added a sub-page for Doug's extended explanation of the method, and created a blog category for AV to make it easier to find past and future posts that feature the stat.

New York Times Posts: Weeks 10-13
This week, with the help of Pro Football Focus, I wrote about the emergence of a group of elite, young left tackles.
In week 12, I (regrettably) wrote a post quantifying the importance of the Jets-Patriots showdown.
Three weeks ago, the topic of the day was the huge receiving years by both Roddy White and Brandon Lloyd. Since then, Lloyd's gained only 107 receiving yards on 6 catcehs the last two weeks, although he's turned two of those into touchdowns; White has 12 catches for 123 yards and no scores over that span. Both are still on pace for 1,500 yard seasons.
In week 10, I asked if the Jets were a great team or a good team. I answered that question correctly then, but apparently forgot the answer between then and the Monday night game against New England.

PI Finds: Most Overtime Games by One Team
Today we have an inquiry from PFR reader Jose:
"No one seems to know the answer to this question: What is the record for most OT games in a season by one team?"
Thanks to an upgrade made to the Play Index Team Game Finder by S-R president Sean Forman, we can now use PFR's site tools to answer this question.
Just go to the Team Game Finder, select "Search for Season Games matching criteria," and check the OT radio button at the bottom left-hand side of the finder interface ("Overtime Game"=Yes). Click "Get Results," and here's what you come up with:
| Rk | Tm | Year | W | L | T | Count | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Carolina Panthers | 2003 | 4 | 1 | 0 | 0.800 | 5 |

| 14 | San Francisco 49ers | 2001 | 3 | 1 | 0 | 0.750 | 4 |
This includes regular-season + OT games, but you can select either of those individually as well.

Coaching Resumes updated through 2010
Cam Cameron Record, Statistics, and Category Ranks - Pro-Football-Reference.com
For all of the current and past NFL head coaches we have updated full coaching resumes through the 2010 season. It would be nice to get a coordinator list at some point. We'll have to add that to the todo list.
