Podcast #5
As an experiment, we decided to do an all trivia show. Listen here and be moderately impressed by how much we know about some things and astounded by how little we know about others.

Great cast, guys! (pun intended) A little bit on Minnesota tight end Joe Senser: He was drafted 6th in the 1979 draft by the Vikes. He didn't start until 1981 as Bob Tucker (who came from the NY Giants in '77) was the regular tight end for Minnesota at the end of his career, being reunited with Fran Tarkenton at the end of his. Senser was a big target, not with great speed, but he had great hands and could break tackles. He was productive in '80, '81, and '82 (in a strike-shortened season) but in a late game in 1981 at home versus the Packers he suffered a leg injury on a pass over the middle and the wounds never really healed. He sat out the 1983 season and attempted a comeback in 1984 during the Les Steckel season but everyone knew that Joe was not the same. Eventually Steve Jordan replaced him as the starter at tight end. This will sound like a cliche but Joe is one of the nicest human beings you would ever meet. He owns a chain of sports bars in the Twin Cities area that have been successful for years and considered one of the top official hang-out spots for viewing sports. The 1981 season was an interesting study of a team that had much promise - the Vikes were 7-4 at one point in the season with Tommy Kramer, Ted Brown, Sammy White, Ahmad Rashad, and Joe Senser all having banner years. They upset the high-powered Chargers in San Diego. But the Vikes lost their last five games in the last season at the old Metropolitan Stadium. Thought I'd send you a primer. Keep up the great work!!!
Love the new format, but I think it should be kept to the ocational appearance. Maybe once every three or four podcasts.
I was gonna say the same thing big cheese said but he beat me too it. I liked it but I liked the old format too. I think every 5th episode being a trivia contest show would be great.
I like the trivia format. My only complaint is when you answer the questions too quickly. As a listener I like to play along with the trivia game to see if I can figure out the answers, but when you don't give me any time to consider the answer, it takes away some of the fun.
I like this as a variation, but it really doesn't matter- the real fun is when you guys riff on random stuff that pops up. Gotta love anything with that many 1994 Penn St. references, my favorite college team of my childhood... I still remember my Ki-Jana Carter jersey fondly.
I might be going against the grain here as a scrambling QB and say that I liked the format. It was not strictly a trivia contest but wound up as an enlightening discussion on interesting sidebits on NFL history and anomalies that have transpired throughout the NFL and AFL - much more titillating than the "WOW" factor on your average network telecasts who try to boast their database power. I was actually amazed and surprised by a lot of the recited history. The most attractive thing, at least to me, was how the cast spurned more research about the past (e.g. the 1981 Vikings, Big 10 RBs, the 1995 Bucs draft, etc. to say the least) and how the next peeling of the onion might unearth more astounding facts, trivia, and discussion. I applaud the podcast and hope for many more - no matter what format. Keep those pods coming FAST!

So I finally got around to listening to this podcast, and I love the format! I played along at home and was able to get 12 points.
