Tecmo Super Bowl Game of the Week: Vikings at Cardinals

Posted by Neil Paine on December 3, 2009

Courtesy of Matt Knobbe and the Tecmo Super Bowl Repository, here's your Tecmo Super Bowl Game of the Week for Week 12, featuring the Minnesota Vikings and the Arizona Cardinals. The highlights:

(How did we do this? Matt and the other dedicated folks at the Knobbe.org message board have spent a lot of time over the years updating this classic Nintendo football game, including the introduction of a 32-team ROM a few seasons ago. Sounds complicated, but don't worry, it's easy for you to enjoy the fruits of their labor: just get yourself an NES emulator, download the 2009 version of Tecmo here, and play to your heart's content. And be sure to check back at Matt's site for roster updates and more Tecmo-related goodness all season long.)

I will believe this when simulators become monkees. But hey, they already are. Go back to the drawing board!!! Vikes on the other end!!! Learn and re-compute!!!

    ;)

  2. Jason W Says:

Boo! And what was up with that FG try in the third? Even Childress wouldn't call that!

(Is it beyond sad that I get riled up about these games and root while they're going on?)

  3. Jason Lisk Says:

I take it that the Vikings lost to the Cardinals. Oh well, wouldn't be the first time a Vikings team was upset by Arizona.

    Salt, meet wound.

  4. MattieShoes Says:

253 yards on 10 attempts, heheheh. And I thought MJD's 177 yards on 8 attempts was impressive

  5. Neil Paine Says:

Yeah, Peterson is officially the Bo Jackson of this ROM. Cyber-Childress should have given him the ball on every play instead of letting cyber-Favre throw incomplete pass after incomplete pass.

  6. Joseph Says:

(I am a Saints fan--GO CARDS!! [this week])
    How realistic is the sim?
    1. Peterson runs wild (253 yds)=CHECK
    2. Fitz catches a bunch of passes, even tightly covered.=CHECK
    3. Boldin=3 TD's. =Not so much, but prob. gets one. Warner, 3 TD passes--yeah prob.
    4. Favre=12% passing, including three straight incompletes at the goal line???=the
AI on this part needs reprogrammed. Not even "gunslinger" Favre would audible out of running to throw THREE STRAIGHT PASSES unless there were no healthy RB's and all 11 guys stacked the box.
    5. Beanie Wells running wild and scoring 2 times.=Check the D-line ratings; although I guess that running wide is the way to go against the Vikes.

  7. Jason W Says:

I played a full season as the Vikings, and they made Favre like we all thought he would be, not how he actually is.

    And JKL: PHBBBBBBBBBBBTTT!!!

  8. Kent Says:

If only Whis had the cajohenes to call a deep pass to Fitz on the 1st play of the game...

And maybe if Warner actually had the cajohenes to throw to Fitz in double coverage and let Fitz go and get it...

    Ahh What If's...

my predicted scores are more accurate than this thing
