Tecmo Super Bowl XLIV: Colts vs. Saints
Courtesy of Matt Knobbe and the Tecmo Super Bowl Repository, here's Tecmo Super Bowl XLIV, featuring the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts. The highlights:

(How did we do this? Matt and the other dedicated folks at the Knobbe.org message board have spent a lot of time over the years updating this classic Nintendo football game, including the introduction of a 32-team ROM a few seasons ago. Sounds complicated, but don't worry, it's easy for you to enjoy the fruits of their labor: just get yourself an NES emulator, download the 2009 version of Tecmo here, and play to your heart's content. Also, be sure to check out their brand new Tecmo Super Coach ROM, which was used to generate the footage above; TSC is a coach-only version of the legendary game that boasts a number of radical innovations and improvements -- you can read more about TSC here. Thanks for a terrific season, everybody!)

what percentage of onside kicks are recovered? I wonder if it ever is better for a team to onside kick in overtime.
Colston 273 yards!!! I think we know who is the superbowl MVP is in this game.
If you're in a shoot out and lose the toss in overtime, is going for a surprise onside such a bad call?
It's cool how they have Joesph Addai spelled wrong in that game.
A flea-flicker! Huzzah!
To be clear, the actual current release of Tecmo Super Coach available for download has the correct spelling of Joseph Addai. Nice mock-up, by the way!
Jeremiah Says, "It's cool how they have Joesph Addai spelled wrong in that game."
Just to be straight, Joseph Addai is spelled incorrectly in this movie adaptation, but not the actual Tecmo Super Coach game. If he is, I'll be sure to make that change, thanks.
16 minute qtrs? How was this accomplished? This is not the same ROM that I play like everyone else, and does not seem like same game that was used for rest of season, eh?
Please redo this sim.! This game was not played under the same rules as before! Longer quarters? Different defensive plays in this game, like cornerbacks moving closer to the line, this is not the same game that was used before during the rest of season. I protest and suggest others ask for original game that we saw before, and have game replayed, 5 minute qtrs, etc.
Hi there,
The quarters are nearly the same length as 6-Minute standard TSB-timed quarters. I can almost assure you that statistically and especially regarding SIM data, you're going to get a more realistic outcome out of Tecmo Super Coach than whatever version you had been using previously--no offense to that previous version.

Oh this was Tecmo Coach version for Super Bowl? This explains the longer clock, and defensive players moving closer to line such as cornerbacks moving closer to line. It would be just more accurate if they used the same ROM game all season. It makes no sense to use one game the whole season, then switch to this Tecmo Coach ROM for Super Bowl, eh? I bet many people were wondering why the game looked differently, and obviously plays differently as well. Where and when is the Super Bowl for the ROM game we have been witnessing this season going to be released? This highlight is a fraud, and needs to be replaced ASAP! Others please chime in on this unjust change of a game for Super Bowl!
My Super Bowl Simulation has just finished from Miami! As promised, the Vikings-Colts Super Bowl results are posted. The game was a classic game! Minnesota continued its momentum from previous game where they totally outplayed the Saints in NFC title game, to a quick 7-0 lead in 1st qtr. as Peterson scored on a touchdown run. A few series later, he fumbled and ball was picked up by sore ankled Dwight Freeney. Colts would settle for a 22 yd field goal by Viniteri for a 7-3 deficit. Viniteri earlier missed a 44 yd field goal in the game. Minnestoa would end the half with good runs by Peterson and Chester Taylor, however they would have to settle for a 54 yd. field goal by Longwell at end of first half, for 10-3 lead in half. Favre was very shaky in first half, very few yards, and 1 int. at half. It looked like Vikes were going to go up 17-3 early in 3rd qtr. however, Peterson fumbled the ball away again, and this is when Manning went to work the next series after this. He threw a 89 yd td pass to Reggie Wayne to tie the game at 10-10. The next series they force a punt, and Manning throws a td pass to Anthony Gonzalez from around 20 yds. out to take a 17-10 lead. However, Favre and the gang would refuse to die as Peterson managed to score a tying td in 4th qtr running down the left sideline to tie game at 17-17. Manning got the ball back in 4th qtr. with around 3 minutes left, marches his team down the field, and around his 15 yd. line he runs to his right, but throws across his body to the other side of the field and finds an open Austin Collie in left end zone corner wide open, as Colts take lead 24-17 with under a minute left in the game. Favre would get one last chance, but he throws his 2nd Interception with less than 15 seconds left, as Colts run out the clock and claim their 2nd Championship in 4 years, as they outscore Vikes 21-7 in 2nd half. Super Bowl MVP is Peyton Manning
as he threw 3 tds, 0 int. and 338 yds. Minnesota's 4 turnovers were too much to overcome, and Favre was brutal in maybe his final Tecmo game ever. Favre did not say whether he would return next season.
