How about Jim Kaat. Good pitcher and a good player. He played on OK teams and would have the numbers if he had played on winners.

Barry's stats were almost as good as Bernie Williams. Almost. Of course there's no comparing post season stats or number of championships.

Bernie was almost a shortstop. No wait, he wasn't.

If Bernie played in Cincy & Barry played for the Yanks, you'd hear of Barry WAY more than you hear of Bernie

Interesting little oddity: Of the 50 players who received at least one vote in the first election, in 1936, only six never made it to the Hall, the most prominent being Hal Chase.

i can't help but think that all those umpires, founders, coaches etc. should be separated from the players in some fashion or an other. the umpires have their own hall oh fame anyway . those other guys don't belong in the same place as the 241 players.
